Romanctic Legacies

We are thrilled to bring to life the extraordinary work of African American composer, Florence Price. Price was the first African American woman to have her music performed by a major symphony orchestra and we open Romantic Legacies with her mesmerizing Symphony No. 1.  Venezuelan violinist Rubén Rengel is quickly gaining recognition as a remarkably gifted artist. Winner of the Robert Frederick Smith Prize at the 2018 Sphinx Competition, Rengel takes center stage with the full Orchestra to perform Mendelssohn's brilliant Violin Concerto in E Minor. We are honored to present this talented young artist as part of a three year collboration with the Sphinx Organization. In finale, be swept away by one of the most dramatic and romantic works ever written by Guiseppe Verdi—the Overture to La Forza del Destino.
